Xiaomi 18 Ultra Reportedly Dropped; MIX-Series Device Tipped to Feature XRING O3 Chipset

If new rumours are to be trusted, Xiaomi is likely to drop the Ultra variant from its upcoming Xiaomi 18 series and the brand may instead focus on the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max models. However, a new detail now highlights that Xiaomi could incorporate some of the technology intended for its Ultra flagship into an upcoming MIX-series device.

Read more about it below.

Xiaomi MIX-Series Device – Tipped to Feature XRING O3 Chipset

This new tip comes from tipster Yogesh Brar, who claims that although the Ultra variant is likely to be dropped from the upcoming Xiaomi 18 series, the brand may incorporate its technology into an upcoming MIX-series smartphone. If his leak is to be trusted, the device will come powered by Xiaomi’s own XRING O3 chipset.

Talking about the chipset, previous rumours have revealed that the XRING O3 carries the ‘Lhasa’ codename and will feature a simplified three-cluster CPU architecture, instead of the four-cluster arrangement reportedly used by its predecessor.

Xiaomi 18 Ultra - Tipped

This upcoming chipset is tipped to feature prime CPU cores with clock speeds reaching up to 4.05GHz, while its performance cores are said to operate at around 3.42GHz, and the efficiency cores could be clocked at approximately 3.02GHz.

A 25% improvement in graphics performance is expected, as its GPU frequency is expected to reach nearly 1.5GHz. The chipset is also tipped to support memory speeds of up to 9,600 MT/s.

Sadly, the tipster claims that the XRING O3-powered smartphone is likely to remain exclusive to the Chinese market.

Furthermore, the tipster has claimed that Xiaomi could drop more Ultra variants in the future. However, it must be noted that these details are currently based on rumours, and the brand has not officially confirmed the cancellation of the Xiaomi 18 Ultra or revealed the identity of the alleged MIX-series smartphone.

Interestingly, earlier reports had suggested that Xiaomi was developing a separate Ultra-branded smartphone powered by the XRING O3 chipset alongside the Xiaomi 18 Ultra. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the rumoured device will actually be introduced under the MIX series or whether Xiaomi has changed its original plans.
