WWDC 2026: New AI features, Siri Overhaul, iOS 27 and more expected to be announced at Apple’s event

Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference will commence next week (June 8 onwards), and the company is expected to make major announcements at this event.

Here’s what you can expect from WWDC 2026

Siri Overhaul

The company is expected to unveil an overhauled version of Siri that understands context, handles multi-step tasks, and interacts more naturally across apps and services. Apple is reportedly relying on Google Gemini to power the overhauled Siri assistant. Reportedly, Apple has redesigned Siri for modern iPhone hardware, making it live inside the Dynamic Island. A new “Search or Ask” interface is also expected when users swipe down from the top center of the iPhone.

Other changes in the overhauled version could be an in-house web search product as part of Siri, an “Ask Siri” feature that allows sending text and other context into the assistant from across iOS, and there could also be a “Write with Siri” feature.

It is also rumoured that a dedicated Siri app will be unveiled at the conference. The app is expected to include a main page of past chats, an old conversations interface, syncing of conversations across devices, inserting photos or attachments and auto-deleting chats.

It is said that Apple has labelled the new Siri as a “beta” and “preview” internally.

Vision Intelligence

As per reports, Apple is expected to make a big change in its Visual Intelligence technology. The capability from an interface largely tied to the Camera button is moved to a new Siri option within the camera app.

The Visual Intelligence feature is also said to arrive with support for recognising and taking action on both nutrition labels and contact information.

AI features

The company could introduce a series of new AI features this year, like new photo editing tools (Extend option, Reframe option, Enhance and Clean Up), a new Suggested Genmoji option, redesigned Image Playground app, custom wallpapers and home screen backgrounds with AI, upgraded Shortcuts app, systemwide grammar checker and new features in the Apple Health app.

Software upgrades

Apart from the above upgrades, the spotlight will be on the new software upgrades: iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, tvOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27.

The macOS 27 is expected to get a minor redesign and performance improvements. The camera app interface in iOS 27 could now be fully customizable, while the Wallet app in iOS 27 is said to get a new “Create a Pass” feature and a new bill-splitting service.

Changes to the Safari web browser in iOS 27, notifications in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, weather app (in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27), tab bar across several iOS 27 apps, AirPods control panel in Settings app are also expected.
