Samsung recently announced that it will host a Galaxy Event on the 27th of August 2026. While the brand has not yet revealed which device will be introduced during the event, the Galaxy S26 FE is expected to be unveiled. Now, ahead of the event, we have spotted the upcoming smartphone on the EMVCo certification database, revealing its operating system, NFC controllers and other contactless-payment-related details.

Samsung Galaxy S26 FE – EMVCo Certifications
On the EMVCo certification database, two variants of the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE carrying the model numbers ‘SM-S741B/DS’ and ‘SM-S741U’ have been listed. While the former is the global dual-SIM variant, the latter is for the US market.
Starting with the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE ‘SM-S741B/DS’ variant, the device has received an EMV Contactless Level 1 Mobile Product approval with the approval number ‘MTA_LOA_SAEL_06294’.

The certification was approved on the 11th of June 2026 and published on the EMVCo website on the 6th of August 2026. It will remain valid until the 11th of June 2029.
Speaking more, the listing mentions the commercial name ‘Galaxy S26 FE’, model number ‘SM-S741B/DS’ and product version ‘V1’.
Most importantly, the EMVCo document reveals that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 FE runs on the Android 17 operating system.
The smartphone uses Samsung’s ‘S3NSEN6AS4’ NFC controller, paired with NFC firmware version ‘7.4.91’. It supports Type A and Type B contactless communication protocols.
Its approved execution environments include UICC Slot 1 and Host Card Emulation. Furthermore, the HCE execution environment was tested using C2, C3, C4 and C5 kernels.
Moving on to the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE ‘SM-S741U’ variant, it has received the approval number ‘MTA_LOA_SAEL_06295’.

The document confirms the Galaxy S26 FE commercial name alongside the ‘SM-S741U’ model number and ‘V1’ product version.
Just like the ‘SM-S741B/DS’ variant, the ‘SM-S741U’ model also runs on Android 17. However, this variant uses the ‘SN330’ NFC controller with firmware version ‘02.20.A1’.
Speaking more, it supports Type A and Type B contactless communication, while its approved execution environments include UICC Slot 1 and HCE. Its HCE environment was also tested using C2, C3, C4 and C5 kernels.
While both Galaxy S26 FE variants use Android 17 and support similar contactless-payment capabilities, their different NFC controllers and firmware versions point towards certain regional hardware differences.
