Here’s how to update Android 13 on your Pixel phone

Recently, Google announced that it would soon roll out the Android 13 update to its Pixel device catalogue. Google announced this on 15 August, 2022.

Unlike what happens in Android device, it doesn’t mean that just having a qualifying Google device will let a user see the update’s availability immediately. Google takes quite a number of weeks to distribute the update to all its devices in existence.

It has been reported that a easier, computer-free option to avail the update without using Android’s developer tools, a Mac or Pc and a USB cable exists.

If your qualifying device displays that there’s no update available after cross checking, here’s how you can force your device to show the update.

The first step involves enrolling yourself in Google’s Android Beta program. Google allowed Pixel owners to test the Beta version the entire summer. However at present, enrollment into the Beta program will allow the user to use the same version of Android that Google is slowly distributing to everyone.

First of all, one needs to log in to the Android Beta program website with their same Google account that  their phone uses.

On the top, a “see eligible devices” option would be seen. On tapping that a user will see their Pixel phone after the page scrolls down.

Finally, you can hit the “Opt in” button to join the Beta program. Following that the terms and conditions needs to be accepted.

The next phase involves installing the update from your phone settings. One needs to go to their phone’s settings and tap System Update. After installing the update a user can go to the Android Beta program website and “Opt out” from it. Soon after the user has his hand on the Android 13 software experience.
