A Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone user was able to replace the damaged battery of his smartphone with the battery of a Google Pixel 5a smartphone.

The damaged Battery of the Google Pixel 4a 5G Smartphone is Fixed! 

A user of the Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone recently posted on the Reddit platform that, he was able to fix the battery issue of his smartphone by replacing it with the battery of a Google Pixel 5a smartphone.

For this, the smartphone user had bought a Google Pixel 5a smartphone as both the phones were identical in terms of its size.

The Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone has a dimension of 153.9 x 74 x 8.2 mm and the Google Pixel 5a smartphone has a dimension of 154.9 x 73.7 x 7.6 mm. We can see that the length and width of the smartphones are almost the same.

Keeping this in mind, the user also hypothesized that the smartphones will also have batteries of similar size as well and he wasn’t wrong.

The battery of the Google Pixel 5a smartphone was 4.5mm taller and only 0.4mm fatter than the Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone. The width of the battery was also 1.4mm lesser than the width of the battery in the Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone.

With the extra space he received with the lesser width of the battery in the Google Pixel 5a smartphone, the user was also able to move the BMS(Battery Management System) to the side and was successful in replacing the battery of his smartphone.

The Change in Battery Life

The Google Pixel 5a smartphone has a battery capacity of 4680 mAh while the Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone has a lesser battery capacity of 3885 mAh. With the battery of the Google Pixel 5a smartphone in the Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone, the user is able to get 17% more battery life than before.

Also note that the battery of the Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone was already degraded, so the user should be happy about successfully replacing the battery.

However, he has also added that in order to replace the batteries as he did, one should require experience in replacing batteries and will require a good battery spot welder in order to have a clean weld between the battery and the BMS.
