Exynos 850 vs Exynos 1330: Why is the Exynos 1330 Better?

This article will be comparing two of Samsung’s Exynos chipsets, the Exynos 850 and the Exynos 1330. Here’s why the Exynos 1330 is better than the Exynos 850.

Exynos 850 vs Exynos 1330

The Exynos 850 chipset has a core configuration of 8 cores and the Exynos 1330 has a core configuration 2 + 6 cores. The Exynos 1330 comes with an architecture of two Cortex A78 cores and six Cortex A55 cores while the Exynos 850 has an architecture of 8 Cortex A55 cores only.

The graphics processing unit(GPU) used in the two are also different. The Exynos 1330 is accompanied by the much newer and better ARM Mali G68 MP2 GPU while the Exynos 850 comes with an ARM Mali G52 MP1 GPU.

The Exynos 850 is also made using the 8nm process technology whereas the Exynos 1330 is made with the 5nm process technology. The Exynos 1330 made with 5nm process technology is made with transistors that are smaller compared to the ones in the Exynos 850 and the smaller the transistors used the more efficient is the CPU. This makes the Exynos 1330 a much more efficient chipset compared to the Exynos 850.

The Exynos 850 supports eMMC 5.1 internal storage where as the Exynos 1330 supports UFS 2.2 or UFS 3.1 internal storage. The eMMC 5.1 uses a half duplex interface that can either write or read. On the other hand, the UFS 2.2 and the UFS 3.1 uses a full duplex interface which will be able to read and write simultaneously, making them much more faster compared to eMMC 5.1 internal storage.

Both the chipsets will be able to support a full HD display but the Exynos 850 will only support a refresh rate of 60Hz whereas the Exynos 1330 will be able to support a faster refresh rate of 120Hz. The Exynos 1330 will also be able to support a 108MP main camera as well while the Exynos 850 will only be able to support a 48MP main camera.

The Exynos 1330 chipset however also weighs more than the Exynos 850. If the Exynos 850 has a weight of 4 grams, the weight of the Exynos 1330 is 5 grams, a weight of 1 gram more.
