Who were affected by the Facebook login issue?

Facebook users on Friday night were shocked to find themselves logged out of their account on Friday night.

Downdetector.com which measures website problems saw the problems start to occur around 10 pm EST. At least 4,800 users in the U.S. reported on Downdetector that they were unable to log in.

The issue seemed to be occurring in the US and Europe. Although the problem was resolved by Saturday morning, most issues still remained unresolved.

‘We’re looking into reports that some people are currently having to log in again to access their Facebook accounts,’ the company said in a statement. ‘We believe this was due to a configuration change and we’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.’

Those that were attempting to log into their Facebook apps on mobile phones we’re experiencing issues, and were automatically signed out while trying to sign in.

Users on Twitter, including the NYPD’s 19th Precincts’ official Twitter handle, asked users to make sure their passwords were safe and secure.
