Tesla Making India Entry, BS Yediyurappa Welcomes Elon Musk to Karnataka

US electric car giant Tesla eventually made its way to India and registered as a corporation in Karnataka’s Bengaluru, encouraging Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to invite CEO Elon Musk to the to his country.


The carmaker has set up a research and development unit in Bengaluru, confirmed by the Chief Minister on Twitter.

Mr. Yediyurappa tweeted: “Karnataka will lead India’s journey towards Green Mobility. Electric Vehicle Manufacturer Tesla will soon start its operations in India with an R&D unit in Bengaluru. I welcome Elon Musk to India and Karnataka and wish him all the very best.”

The organization is also in communication with as many as five state governments to set up operations in the region.

Tesla Motors India and Energy Private Limited are incorporated on 8 January with its registered office in Bengaluru, a hub for a range of multinational technology firms.

According to his LinkedIn profile, the regulatory filing reveals that the Indian unit has three executives, including David Feinstein, who is currently a senior executive at Tesla.

The other states in which the business is engaged are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.

Elon Musk has confirmed Tesla’s entrance into the Indian market in 2021. Last month, Mr Musk said, “Next year for sure” on Twitter in reply to a post with a photograph of a T-shirt with the message: “India wants Tesla”.
