We all have heard about various phishing scams in which users’ personal data is stolen, or scammers break into online accounts using deceptive emails, messages, ads, or sites that look similar to those you already use.
Well, Samsung users are now being targeted with a new phishing email that mentions deleting Samsung accounts that have been inactive for 24 months.
As seen in the above image, the email is sent from [email protected]. It mentions that Samsung is implementing an inactive Samsung account policy to protect the data of users who have not used their accounts for an extended period. The policy is said to be effective from 31st July 2025. Once implemented, Samsung accounts that have not been logged into or used for 24 months will be considered inactive and will be subject to deletion.
It is also said that once the account is deleted, access to the account will be restricted, and all data linked to the account will be deleted. Accounts and data deleted cannot be restored. It is mentioned that to prevent the deletion, the user’s account must have at least one usage/activity every 24 months; however, there are some exceptions, like registered family accounts, accounts with a record of accumulating/using reward points, and accounts used to purchase on Samsung.com.
There are two links also included in the email, one to see the complete list of exceptions and the other to contact the Help Center.
In case you are a Samsung user and have received any such email, make sure not to click on any links in the email. Many users on Reddit have posted recently that they have received similar emails a few days ago.
