Bots Invade Twitter- Musk Says He Is Looking Into It

Elon Musk responded to a tweet by Hodgetwins, a social media influencer with 1.6M followers. The tweet reads “Noticed something weird today @elonmusk. We’re getting hundreds and thousands of new followers with brand new accounts, no profile pics, and no followers. They all just started following only Conservative accounts too. It’s like a damn bot army assembling”.
Elon musk responded to the tweet by saying, “Looking into it”.

The tweet also contains screenshots of numerous faceless accounts following the Hodgetwins account. Several other users have been replying to his tweet about the same concern they’ve been facing.

A user tweeted, ” Thankyou! I observed the same, and it’s atypical in terms of my experience on here. Perhaps some plot is ‘afoot'”.

While another user tweeted, ” The bots have gone down significantly since you took over. You are doing an incredible job, sir”. Most of the tweets do not agree with this.

“Musk said he would fix Twitter’s problems with imposters. The blue checkmark on my fake U.S senator suggests he still has a long way to go,” says Columnist Geoffrey A. Fowler in his The Washington Post article.

In early November 2022, Twitter started selling blue tick verification to anyone. Fowler made a fake senator account and purchased it. After several imposters began impersonating celebrities and high-profile officials, Twitter stated it would manually check all accounts before verifying them. However, on Dec 12, Fowler once again used his fake senator account and acquired the blue tick. Musk’s takeover has created dissatisfaction among millions of its users. Will Musk solve this concern or will the complaints continue?
