In June, Tata Electronics announced that it had detected a cybersecurity incident. Reports revealed that a ransomware group known as World Leaks has claimed responsibility for the data breach, and it was said that the group has posted more than 204,341 files belonging to Tata Electronics on the dark web.
The Tata Electronics leak reportedly included sensitive lists of components and suppliers, along with photos of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models, purported component design papers of older iPhones and some Tesla-related files, along with documents linked to TSMC and Qualcomm. Both Apple and Tata Electronics were investigating this matter. The incident was also reported to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In).
Today, it is revealed that the Indian government has found no evidence of any critical information loss in the June 2026 Tata Electronics Cyber Breach.
India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S. Krishnan has told reporters that Tata Electronics is working closely with MeitY and nothing critical has been lost based on the current government’s assessment. The matter is being handled and is still under investigation.
He said, “We are studying what is happening on that issue. But on the commercial aspect, we understand that both the current entities involved are broadly satisfied that they have not lost anything… they are not very concerned about that. So this is what we understand from those entities.”
