Tata Electronics Data Breach – Apple iPhone 18 Pro Supplier Lists, Component Details, and Drop-Test Images Reportedly Exposed

As per a Reuters report, a ransomware group known as World Leaks has claimed responsibility for the data breach, and the group has reportedly posted more than 204,341 files belonging to Tata Electronics on the dark web, totaling over 630.4GB in size. Rather than directly targeting Apple’s own corporate servers, the hackers are said to have targeted Tata Electronics, which is currently one of Apple’s most important manufacturing and supply chain partners in India.

The biggest thing to note is that the leaked data reportedly includes sensitive lists of components and suppliers, along with photos of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models. Reuters claims that new documents reviewed by it show at least six files mapping several iPhone 18 Pro components to their respective suppliers, including chips placed on the main circuit board, as well as parts related to the battery and camera setup. The documents are also said to detail hundreds of parts that are expected to be used on the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models.

Speaking more, the leak also reportedly includes images of iPhones undergoing drop tests at one of Tata’s plants earlier this year. These images are said to belong to the upcoming Apple’s flagship iPhone 18 Pro, showing a grey slab-shaped iPhone prototype with a triple rear camera setup and Apple logo.

Also to add, Reuters had earlier reported that the Tata Electronics leak also contained purported component design papers of older iPhones and some Tesla-related files, along with documents linked to TSMC and Qualcomm. The leaked files are said to include at least 16 files and folders of purported TSMC documents and 23 Qualcomm-related files, with one TSMC document reportedly marked as “TSMC Secret,” while a Qualcomm document was also said to carry a confidential trade-secret watermark.

In response, Tata Electronics has reportedly restricted internal access to sensitive systems, tightened security controls across its facilities and offices, and hired a global consultant to carry out a forensic audit. Additionally, Apple’s security team is also reportedly working closely with Tata on near-term and long-term measures following the incident.
