A report says that Google Search and Drive mistakenly flagged links to the research papers and website of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), a US-based non-profit international scientific and educational computing society with almost 100,000 students and professors involved in the field of computing.
A Germany-based Ph.D. researcher named Maximilian Golla of Max Planck Society observed that his Google Doc files containing ACM research papers got restricted on Google. Google stated that the file “violates Google Drive’s Terms of Service.”
It also has been reported that ACM domains appeared malicious on several Google Search results. The report shows that the acm.org, dl.acm.org, or libraries.acm.org links appeared in the Google Search results directed as interstitials hosted on Google’s redirection page with the message warning visitors that the link is harmful.
According to a source, Google Search has been blocking almost all traffic to ACM domains. However, there is no observation of probable malware attacks.
