Samsung Rolls Out December 2024 Update for S23 Ultra with New USB Security Feature in Europe

Samsung has just dropped a fresh update for S23 Ultra European owners, and this one’s all about keeping your phone safer. The December update brings a neat new trick to the table – a beefed-up USB security feature they’re calling “Auto Blocker.”

What’s interesting about this update is how it handles USB connections. Turn on Auto Blocker with maximum restrictions, and your phone will only let USB connections charge your device – nothing else. It’s basically like having a bouncer for your phone’s charging port.

The update isn’t huge, coming in at around 378MB, and keeps your phone running on Android 14 with One UI 6.1. Besides the new security feature, Samsung’s thrown in their usual mix of stability improvements and bug fixes. The December 2024 security patch is also part of the package, keeping your phone up to date with the latest protections.

For the tech-savvy folks out there, the update comes with firmware versions S918BXXS7CXK6, S918BOXM7CXK4, and S918BXXU7CXK4. You’ll need to restart your phone once you’ve installed it, but Samsung’s made it pretty convenient – you can either install it right away or schedule it for later when you’re not busy using your phone.

Want to check if you’ve got the update waiting? Just head to your phone’s settings and look for that software update option. And as always, Samsung recommends keeping your phone updated regularly to keep everything running smoothly.

This update is currently rolling out, so if you haven’t seen it pop up on your S23 Ultra yet, don’t worry – it should be making its way to your device soon.
