Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra – New One UI 8.5 Test Build Spotted

According to tipster Tarun Vats, Samsung has moved from the earlier ‘S4AZG5’ firmware to a newer ‘U4AZG7’ test build for the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The appearance of the new S948BXXU4AZG7 firmware indicates that Samsung is preparing another update for its Galaxy S26 Ultra smartphone. As per the tipster, this could arrive with the August 2026 Android security patch, along with bug fixes, performance optimisations, and stability improvements.

While this is not confirmed, the upcoming update could also possibly include a fix for the red-tint issue recently reported by several Galaxy S26 Ultra users. The issue causes a reddish patch or tint to appear around the centre of the smartphone’s display.

Samsung later reportedly clarified that the issue is related to software-based colour optimisation and is not caused by OLED burn-in or a hardware defect. The company is already working on a software update to address it, although it has not revealed exactly which firmware will include the fix. Therefore, it is currently not sure whether the newly spotted ‘S948BXXU4AZG7’ build is associated with it.

Also to add, the earlier ‘S948BXXS4AZG5’ firmware was released for the Galaxy S26 Ultra in India on July 13th, 2026 which brought the July 2026 Android security patch and was based on One UI 8.5.

Since the new test build has appeared shortly after the rollout of the July update, Samsung could be preparing to release the August 2026 security update earlier than usual. However, it would be better to wait for the official rollout announcement before reaching a conclusion.

In other news, Samsung is scheduled to host its next Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22nd, 2026, at 6:30 PM IST, where it is expected to unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones, including devices under the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 lineups, alongside new wearables and other ecosystem products.
