Wondering what bootloader unlocking tool is? Well, the Realme bootloader unlocking tool refers to the official Deep Testing APK (also called the DeepTesting app) provided by Realme for eligible devices. This is a prerequisite for unlocking the bootloader on Realme smartphones, which allows advanced modifications like rooting, installing custom ROMs, using floating recovery tools and making other modifications that are not normally allowed on locked devices.
Usually, the eligible new Realme devices are available for application one month after their release. Like Realme GT 8 series was released on 21st October in China and was said to have its bootloader unlock available on 20th November.
But recently, Realme has decided to open up a batch of slots ahead of schedule (November 1). The official bootloader unlocking tool is now available for Realme GT 8 and Realme GT 8 Pro Chinese variants. This is done to meet everyone’s needs for in-depth gaming.
Bootloader unlocking guide
- Enable developer mode: Go to Settings> About> Build information, tap the Build Number 7 times to enable the developer mode
- Open oemlock: Go to Settings> System Settings> Developer mode, enable OEM unlock
- Use the APK to enter fastboot mode
- Click ‘Start Application’
- After checking ‘Submit Application’, click ‘Return’ to return to the application interface. You can check whether the application has been approved by clicking ‘Check Review Status’ on the application interface
- Unlock fastboot: After the review is approved, click ‘Start Deep Testing’ and your phone will restart to the START screen
- Connect to the computer and run: fastboot flashing unlock
- Following the on-screen instructions, press the volume down button to select unlock, and then press the power button to confirm. After selecting ‘UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER’, the phone will restore factory settings and restart to the language selection screen.
Do note that unlocking the bootloader may cause unpredictable damage to the phone, third-party firmware may cause some functions of the phone to malfunction, leakage of private personal information, the user may not receive subsequent updates to Realme UI, and all user data will be removed after unlocking.
