PS5 System Software Update 25.01-10.60.00 Improves Performance, Stability, and Usability

Sony has released a new system software update for the PS5 consoles, version 25.01-10.60.00. The update focuses on enhancing system software performance and stability while improving the messages and usability on some screens.

The previous update, version 24.08-10.40.00, brought improvements to data transfer processes between PS5 consoles, particularly for large data transfers such as captures, along with usability enhancements on various screens. These updates aim to ensure a smoother and more reliable user experience for PS5 owners.

The last major update, version 24.06-10.00.00, introduced the Welcome Hub for North American users, replacing the Explore hub. This feature allows users to customise widgets and backgrounds, with widgets displaying details like storage, battery levels, and online friends. Widgets can be resized, added, or removed individually, or users can select from preset layouts. A limited number of users initially received this feature, with a global rollout planned within 1-2 months of the update.
