OnePlus 8/8 pro gets its final OxygenOS update, A final goodbye from OnePlus

Recently, OnePlus announced the end-of-cycle updates for both smartphones OnePlus 8/8 Pro. Surprisingly, OnePlus has rolled out another update for both of these smartphones, OxygenOS, specifically for the Indian market. This comes despite their April 2024 announcement that OxygenOS would be the final update for these devices. The changelog for the new update does not include the May 2024 security patch but rather addresses some known issues.

It is being rolled out with the firmware version of IN: IN2021_13.1.0.590(EX01) for the OnePlus 8 Pro and IN: IN2011_13.1.0.590(EX01) for the OnePlus 8. The changelog notes that this new update will bring system stability and compatibility improvements, as well as fix some known issues. However, it does not specify which issues have been addressed.

OnePlus has also announced that this will be the final update, fulfilling their lifecycle promise of providing updates for these smartphones.
