The Sony Xperia 10 VI smartphone was launched back in 2024 with a promise of three major Android OS upgrades, and Android 17 was expected to be its final major update. Here’s more about the update.

Sony Xperia 10 VI – Android 17 Upgrade Cancelled; Security Updates to Continue

Via a press release, Sony states that the decision has been taken after a detailed technical assessment of the Xperia 10 VI smartphone and cites limitations related to the device’s storage configuration preventing it from offering an Android 17 upgrade for the device.

This comes as a suprise to Xperia 10 VI users, who were expecting Android 17 as part of the promised software support and therefore comes as a disappointment to existing Xperia 10 VI customers.

However, Sony has confirmed that the device’s security patch updates, which were promised for four years, will continue to remain unaffected.

Stay tuned for more updates!
