Yesterday, Microsoft released August 2026 security updates for multiple Windows 11 versions: 26H1, 24H2 & 25H2, and 23H2.

Windows 11 August security updates
Version 26H1 (KB5121000)
The update includes new features and quality improvements from the July updates. The key quality improvements addressed by this update include:
- [Device] This update improves TPM maintenance reporting by ensuring that EK certificate status is reported accurately.
- [Secure Boot] This update includes additional high-confidence device targeting data, increasing coverage of devices eligible to receive new Secure Boot certificates automatically. Certificate deployment via Windows updates continues across supported PCs and non-managed business devices in the coming months.
It also includes AI Component and Service stack updates.
Version 24H2 & 25H2 (KB5121003)
The update includes improvements from the previously released July updates, while there are also some key quality improvements addressed by this update:
- [Security updates] This update provides security improvements.
- [Secure Boot] This update includes additional high-confidence device targeting data, increasing coverage of devices eligible to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates. Certificate deployment via Windows updates continues across supported PCs and non-managed business devices in the coming months.
- AI Components and Service stack updates are also included.
Windows 11 Version 24H2 Home and Pro editions will reach end of updates on October 13, 2026.
Version 23H2 (KB5120240)
The update addresses security issues for your Windows OS
- Fixes and quality improvements from the July update.
- [Connectivity] This update refreshes the COSA profile for SoINet-Mobile to support the latest mobile operator settings.
- [Device Management] This update improves reliability for devices managed through mobile device management by helping devices continue to perform normally when an MDM certificate expires.
- [File History] The update improves the reliability of File History backups to SMB network issues, helping scheduled backups access network locations and copy files as expired.
- [Secure Boot] This update includes additional high-confidence device targeting data, increasing coverage of devices eligible to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates. Certificate deployment via Windows updates continues across supported PCs and non-managed business devices in the coming months.
- [Emoji Panel] The emoji panel (Windows key+ period (.)) now supports GIPHY following the deprecation of Google’s Tenor API.
- This update also makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates.
Windows 11 Version 23H2 Enterprise and Education will reach end of updates on November 10, 2026.
