Due to the intense competition that LG was facing in the smartphone market, the brand had officially shut down its mobile phone division on the 31st of July 2021, and about four years later, on the 30th of June 2025, the brand has also announced the termination of its mobile phone related services which includes Mobile Phone Software Update (FOTA – Firmware Over the Air), Update Center (Application Service), and LG Bridge (PC Tool). All of LG’s mobile devices will be targeted, and the official end date and time is mentioned to be on the 30th of June 2025 at 12:00 AM, two months later.

After the termination date, none of the above services will be accessible, and if any users want to make use of the software upgrade services, they are advised to do so before the termination date itself. No more application updates will be provided by the brand, thus users who had initially removed default applications from their devices won’t be able to reinstall it again.
