Google Releases September 2026 Pixel Drop With Redesigned Pixel VIPs, Scam Detection, Pause Point and More

Google has now announced the September 2026 Pixel Drop for its supported Pixel devices and its rollout has already begun.

The latest Pixel Drop introduces redesigned and expanded Pixel VIP widgets. After this update, users will be able to make a call or write a message to their VIP contacts directly from the Home screen, while new notification badges highlight urgent and unread messages. Moreover, a floating menu has also been added for quickly switching between different VIP contacts.

Google has also introduced Harry Potter Audiobook Packs, which will remain available until 31st December 2026, and with just a single tap users will be able to wallpaper, icons, and sounds with elements from the audiobooks.

Along with this, eligible Pixel users will receive a two-month Audible free trial, which will be available in the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, Japan, and Australia and can be claimed until 14th January 2027.

Speaking more, Gboard Scam Detection, which is a real-time scam detection that can display a “Likely scam” warning if a user begins replying to a suspicious message, is rolling out to Pixel 6 and newer devices in the US.

Scam Detection in notifications is also expanding to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, and the UK. The notification-based feature has additionally gained support for Arabic, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, and Spanish.

Lastly, the Pause Point feature, which was previously limited to the Pixel 11, is expanding to Pixel 6 and newer devices. It introduces a brief pause before users open selected distracting apps, giving them an opportunity to reconsider whether they want to continue.

Apart from the September 2026 Pixel Drop, Google is also rolling out its monthly software update for the Pixel 6 and newer smartphones with the build number CP3A.260905.009. The complete changelog is listed on the Google’s official support page.
