Android 15 Beta 1 is now officially released for OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open users

Google announced the Android 15 Beta 1 update for Pixel smartphones back in April 2024. Initially, it was limited to Pixel smartphones only. However, now OnePlus has also joined the Android 15 team. According to its recent announcement, OnePlus is releasing its first Android 15 Beta update to OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open users.

OnePlus strongly advises against flashing this ROM for those who lack software development experience. Flashing a ROM involves installing a modified version of the Android operating system on a device.

OnePlus has also shared some Known issues after upgrading to the Android 15 Beta 1

OnePlus 12

  • There are some compatibility issues with the Bluetooth connection.
  • In certain scenarios, Wi-Fi may not be able to connect to the printer
  • The Smart Lock function cannot be used.
  • Some camera functions display abnormally in certain scenarios.
  • In some scenarios, the Multi-Screen Connect function is abnormal when connecting with PC or PAD.
  • Some third-party applications have compatibility issues such as crashes
  • Stability issues in specific scenarios.
  • Personal hotspot may not work after modifying the security settings.
  • The Auto Pixlate function fails during screenshot preview.
  • After taking a photo, the photo does not show the ProXDR button.

OnePlus Open

  • There are some compatibility issues with the Bluetooth connection.
  • Some camera functions display abnormally under certain scenes.
  • In some scenarios, the Multi-Screen Connect function is abnormal when connecting with PC or PAD.
  • Some third-party applications have compatibility issues such as crashes
  • There are stability issues in specific scenarios.
  • The split screen function of the main screen is abnormal in some scenarios.
  • After taking a photo, the photo does not show the ProXDR button.
  • Personal hotspot may not work after modifying the security settings.
  • The Auto Pixlate function fails during screenshot preview.
  • Long pressing the main body of a picture in Photos cannot trigger the smart select and cutout function.
  • Creating the System Cloner and open, when input the main system password, it will crash to the desktop and the multitask button and home button of are unavailable.
  • The size of the drop-down status bar quick switch is abnormal after the screen resolution is switched between Standard and High.You can switch to the original resolution to restore it. (Method:Settings > Display & brightness > Screen Resolution > Standard or High)

Pre-requisite

If you are on T-Mobile or Verizon you won’t be able to upgrade to Android 15 Beta 1, as these carriers are not compatible.

Make sure your smartphone’s battery percentage is above 30% and has at least 4GB of storage space.

OnePlus 12 version needs to be 14.0.0.610 and below then only you can upgrade. While for OnePlus Open needs to be 14.0.0.702 and below to upgrade.

MP and OBT Android 15 Beta 1 upgrade guide—via Local OTA Update (EU&IN ONLY)

  1. Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server.
  2. Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.
  3. Go to Settings -> About device -> Version -> Click Build number 7 times and enter the password, now you are in the developer mode.
  4. Go back to Settings -> About device -> Up to date -> Click the top right button -> Local install -> Click on the corresponding installation package -> Extract -> Upgrade -> System upgrade completed to 100%.
  5. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
  6. Update successful.

MP and OBT to Android 15 Beta 1 upgrade guide—via Local OTA Update (NA ONLY)

  1. Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server.
  2. Copy the Upgrade package to the phone storage.
  3. Install this apk. You’ll need it to update. Then, open the app -> tap the top right gear icon -> find the upgrade package and tap it -> wait to finish the installation -> tap reboot
  4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
  5. Update successful.

Android 15 Beta 1 to MP rollback guide – via Local OTA update (EU&IN ONLY)

  • Download the latest ROM rollback zip package from the specified server.
  • Copy the ROM rollback package to the phone storage.
  • Go to Settings -> About device -> Version -> Click Build number 7 times and enter the password, now you are in the developer mode.
  • Go back to Settings -> About device -> Up to date -> Click the top right button -> Local install -> Click on the corresponding rollback package -> Extract -> Upgrade -> System upgrade completed to 100%.
  • After the rollback is complete, click Restart.
  • Rollback successful.

Android 15 Beta 1 to MP rollback guide – via Local OTA update (NA ONLY)

  1. Download the latest ROM rollback zip package from the specified server.
  2. Copy the Rollback package to the phone storage.
  3. Install this apk. You’ll need it to roll back. Then, open the app -> tap the top right gear icon -> find the downgrade package and tap it -> wait to finish the installation -> tap reboot
  4. After the rollback is complete, click Restart.
  5. Rollback successful.

​Caution: This upgrade and downgrade will delete all your stuff on your smartphones. So it is advisable to backup everything before you start the upgrade process.
