The Chinese tipster on the Weibo platform – Smart Pikachu has shared this update, pointing out that the upcoming smartphones of the Reno 12 series could feature a newly customized Sony primary camera lens. It’s not sure what the tipster meant by “rolls the mid-range image to the bottom”, but it is assumed that the camera quality/performance may be lowered when compared to the predecessors.

A few days back, the specifications, prices, and the launch time frame of the Reno 12 and Reno 12 Pro devices were shared online. This has given a better insight into the upcoming models.

The vanilla Reno 12 device is said to come with a MediaTek processor (codenamed – MTK 24M), and will probably have a storage option with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. It is also suggested to have a 6.7″ FHD 120Hz OLED display and a 4-sided curved glass back. Cameras might include a 50MP OIS + 8MP dual rear camera unit and a 50MP selfie camera(without AF). It is also expected to be backed by a 5000 mAh battery supporting 67W fast charging feature.

The pro model, the Reno 12 Pro, is revealed to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset(codenamed – MTK DX-2) (contradicts previous update about possible Snapdragon chipset), and is expected to be coupled with 12GB RAM and 256GB/512GB storage. The device might be featuring the same 6.7″ FHD 120Hz OLED display and the 4-sided curved glass back as well. 50MP(2x optical zoom) + 8MP dual rear camera setup and 50MP selfie camera(with AF) are also expected. Again, the 5000 mAh battery backup and 67W fast charge support are also suggested for the device.

As far as the launch is concerned, it is mentioned to take place in the month of June 2024, probably first in the brand’s home market in China, and is to have expected prices of USD 499 and 799 for the vanilla and pro models.
