Google Pixel Fold FCC Certification Reveals Two Model Numbers and UWB Support

Google is soon to launch its very first foldable device, the Google Pixel Fold, and its FCC certification reveals that the smartphone will arrive in two model numbers and will have a UWB chip inside it.

A report published on Notebook Check confirms that Google’s upcoming foldable device, the Google Pixel Fold has received the FCC certification and the certification reveals that the device will have two model numbers.

The Google Pixel Fold will come in two model numbers G9FPL and G0B96. Both the models have received the FCC certification with the same certification ID of A4RG9FPL, further pointing out that the two models will be identical without any difference.

The FCC certification has also confirmed that the Pixel Fold will have a UWB chip equipped within, which is to help Google in mirroring Apple’s handoff functionality. The report also suggests that Google is working on an AirTag alternative which also will be relying on UWB support.

Apart from this, the FCC certification the device has received also confirms that the device will also support Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, Bluetooth LE, and 5G network connectivity.

The Google Pixel Fold is said to have its launch on the 10th of May 2023 at the I/O developer conference event and the renders and specifications of the device have been revealed.

Here are some of the specifications that have been revealed

The upcoming Google Pixel Fold is to come equipped with the Tensor G2 chipset along with the Titan M2 security chip and is likely to operate on the Android 13-based operating system. The device is also said to be coupled with an LPDDR5 RAM of 12GB and UFS 3.1 internal storage of 256GB and 512 GB.

The device for its inner display is said to feature a 7.6″ foldable OLED display with a screen resolution of 2208 × 1840 pixels and its cover display will have a 5.8″ OLED display with a screen resolution of 2092 × 1080 pixels. Both the displays will also have a refresh rate of 120Hz as well.

For its cameras, the device at its rear will have a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP main camera, 10.8MP telephoto camera, and a 10.8MP ultrawide camera. For selfies, its cover display will have a 9.5MP camera, and its inner display is to have an 8MP camera.

Regarding its battery, nothing has been confirmed yet but we can expect the device to have a battery backup of 4500 mAh

Google’s Pixel Fold is also confirmed to be priced at $1,799 and $1,919 respectively for the 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB storage variants and will be available in black(Obsidian) and white(Chalk) color choices.
