Brooklyn Subway Mass Shooting: NYPD is looking for a black man wearing a gas mask and an orange construction vest shoots at least five commuters

After killing at least five people on a crowded subway train in Sunset Park during rush hour on Tuesday, a gunman wearing a gas mask and an orange construction vest is on the run in Brooklyn.

The attacker is thought to have tossed a smoke bomb inside a northbound R train at the 25th Street Station in Brooklyn shortly before 8.30 a.m., then opened fire as the train doors closed. Five people were shot, one of them is now in a bad condition, but according to fire department officials, 13 people were hurt in total.

The injured passengers jumped out of the train carriage at 36th Street, alarming those waiting to board, according to The New York Daily News. It’s unclear if he shot from the 25th Street station platform or if he was already on the train.

They can be seen writhing around on the blood-stained 36th Street platform, waiting to be carried to the hospital, in horrifying photographs and videos.

According to the FDNY, multiple undetonated explosives were discovered at the 36th Street station, although none are active, according to the NYPD.

A bomb squad has arrived on the site. The gunman is now being sought by NYPD units.

He shot ‘too many rounds to count,’ according to one witness, according to The New York Post. It’s still unknown what kind of weapon he used. The gunman was described as a ‘5ft 5 black male weighing 170 lbs’ by the Post’s sources.

‘At first, I assumed he was an MTA employee because I didn’t want to pay too much attention.’ You know what I mean? ‘You’re wearing the orange,’ the witness observed.

Cemil Toseglu, who owns a store across the street from the station, described how his terrified 17-year-old daughter was on the train to school when it was attacked.

‘My kid was headed to school and was on the same train when everything happened,’ he told DailyMail.com. She stated that there was smoke and that she was instructed to board the other train.

‘She’s fine now, and she came to see me before I sent her home.’ She’s fine, but she’s taken aback. I didn’t believe it was that serious at first, but she later informed me that people were saying that a man with a pistol and possibly a bomb was on the loose.’
