This technology initiative from GSTN is to combat the menace of fake registrations as well as bogus billing, prevent the misuse of Aadhaar and Pan card, and also to protect innocent citizens from possible frauds. As mentioned, with its recent roll-out in Sikkim on the 1st of May 2025, it is now available and accessible across the entire country – in all Indian states and union territories.

Speaking more about its working and procedures, under the Rule 8 of CGST Rules of 2027, an applicant can now be identified with biometric-based Aadhaar authentication, along with his/her photograph (to be taken) and with the verification of all the uploaded original documents. Document verification and appointment booking processes have also been integrated as part of the functionality.

After submitting the application (in Form GST REG-01), the applicant will be receiving an email with a link either for OTP-based Aadhaar authentication or for booking an appointment (along with other details). If the applicant receives the former link, the process is the same as mentioned above. But if it is the latter that has been received, the applicant will have to book an appointment and visit the designated GSK (GST Suvidha Kendra) to complete the necessary procedures.
