Generative AI has recently made it easy for artists to create music, experiment with new ways to enhance the music and share it with listeners. This growing technology has helped a lot of artists, but transparency still matters for listeners so that they can differentiate between AI-generated music and original music.
Understanding this need of listeners, YouTube has announced that YouTube Music is now rolling out labels to make it easier to see when a song was created primarily using generative AI.
YouTube Music labels for AI Music
When you listen to a track on YouTube Music where AI played a significant role, you will see a label directly on the player page. Tapping the label opens a simple menu that shares more information.
The company is also teaming up with music partners and using its own detection tools to identify AI-generated tracks, applying the same labelling principles already used across YouTube. The goal behind this labelling is to make it as easy as possible for viewers and listeners to have the right information and clarity when it comes to the music they listen to.
