Previously, X launched a Creator Revenue Sharing program that allowed creators to share in the revenue from engagement with their content on X. Yesterday, the company announced that, from 7th August, it will no longer accept new enrollments in this program, and the program will fully retire on 7th September.
To replace this program, the company has now introduced a new Original Content Rewards Program so that creators continue earning from their content on X.
What will happen to the currently enrolled users in the Creator Revenue Sharing Program?
If you are currently enrolled in the Revenue Sharing Program, you will continue earning through September 7, 2026. You will receive three final payouts: two on August 14 and August 28, in line with the standard payout schedule, and a final payout for earnings accrued through September 7, expected on or around September 11.
Starting 8th September, X will begin rolling out access for existing Revenue Sharing members to apply for the new Original Content Rewards Program. To join, you will need to meet the program’s eligibility requirements. Eligibility status can be checked at any time by going to Creator Studio- Original Content Rewards.
The company has mentioned that it may modify or cancel Creator Revenue Sharing at any time in its sole discretion, including for business, financial or legal reasons.
What is the Original Content Rewards Program?
This program is designed to reward creators who produce original, high-quality content. Content in any format- from a post or Article to a video or image- that reflects your own video, expertise or creativity.
Eligible creators earn payouts based on qualified impressions (unique impressions from Premium users on the Home Timeline feed where at least 50% of the post is visible) generated by their original content.
Copied content, minimally modified content, aggregated content and cross-platform reposts are not considered original content.
Eligibility requirements
- Be based in a country where the program is available
- Be 18+ years of age
- Have an X account in good standing with no history of repeatedly violating X’s monetization guidelines or terms of service
- Have a personal or business account
- Hold an active X Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription
- Have at least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days
- Have at least 500 verified followers
- Actively post original content as defined
