WhatsApp has revised its privacy policies and there have been some rumors that private messages from users of friends and families would be leaked. However, the Facebook-owned messaging app offered the same explanation.
WhatsApp clarified that the update in its newly updated policy ‘does not affect the privacy of communications with friends or families.’ ‘Instead, this update contains improvements relevant to WhatsApp Company Messaging.’
Speaking regarding ‘group privacy,’ WhatsApp says in the Security and Privacy section on its website: ‘We don’t exchange this info with Facebook for advertising. Again, these secret chats are encrypted so we can’t see their contents.”
It also recommends that users change the message settings to ‘disappear from chats after you send them’ to ‘additional privacy.’
Step by step, how to do this has been shared on its website.
However, the #WhatsAppPrivacy hashtag is circulating on Twitter because it’s been a long-running joke that our data isn’t secure.
