Apple introduced Apple Intelligence in 2024, and since then, the company has been introducing new Apple Intelligence capabilities for its users that have attracted a lot of users. While global and Indian users enjoyed these features, Apple users in China missed out on them due to its approval issues. China requires companies to register large language models and generative AI services with regulators before making them available to the public.
Now, after a wait of two years, Apple users in China could soon get to see the integration of Apple Intelligence within iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS.
China’s Cyberspace regulator today revealed that Apple’s on-device generative AI service, Apple Intelligence, has been registered for use on iPhones in China. This filing positions Apple one step closer to officially launching its AI features for users in the country.

Reportedly, Apple Intelligence will incorporate capabilities from AI models developed by Baidu and Alibaba. Though the exact rollout time is not known yet, it could happen soon.
Apart from Apple, the Cyberspace Administration of China completed the filing of some additional mobile generative AI services in accordance with the country’s interim rules governing generative AI. The newly filed services include Samsung Galaxy AI, Huawei Xiaoyi, Vivo BlueOnDevice, Oppo AndesGPT, Xiaomi Pengpai AI and Doubao on Nubia smartphones. These filings suggest that the manufacturers are working towards AI advancements in the Chinese smartphone market.
