Yesterday, Google announced the rollout of Personal Intelligence with Gemini on Android Auto so that users can get hands-free, personalised help on the road with Gemini.

Personal Intelligence with Gemini on Android Auto
With your permission, Personal Intelligence securely connects information from the Google apps you already use- Workspace (including Gmail and Google Calendar), Google Photos, Google Maps, YouTube, and Search.
Personal Intelligence has two core strengths: retrieving specific details from an email, photo or a place you saved in Google Maps to answer your question and reasoning across complex sources.
With Personal Intelligence, you can:
- Make complex requests: On your way to the airport, ask, “What’s my flight gate? And is my flight on time?” You don’t have to hunt for the confirmation email, then do a separate search for delays. Gemini gives you both answers in one go.
- Get personalized picks every time: Looking for dinner in an unfamiliar town? Say, “Find me an indoor restaurant along my route that matches my usual vibe.” If you’re vegetarian, you’ll get a shortlist of places that fit your needs.
- Speak naturally: Heading to an appointment? Say, “Take me to my doctor’s appointment.” You don’t have to remember the street address or look it up before you drive.
- Retrieve details without pulling over: Trying to return to a place you saw earlier? Say, “Find the car wash from the photo I took last week and navigate there.” You don’t need to scroll through your camera roll or pull over to get the name and directions.
- Pick up where you left off: Heading out for the morning? Say, “Take me to the coffee shop we were talking about yesterday”. Gemini will handle the digging and send you on your way.
Personal Intelligence is built with privacy at the centre. Your apps aren’t connected until you choose to turn it on, and you can turn it off anytime in your Gemini settings. And cars with Google built-in only share personal responses when you’re in the car with your phone connected.
Availability
Personal Intelligence is rolling out on Android Auto and in coming months on cars with Google built-in. If you’ve already enabled it in the Gemini app, it comes with you into the car. If you haven’t, you can set your preferences anytime in your Gemini settings.
