Google I/O 2026 announcements: New Gemini models, Shopping, AI Search, SynthID, Ask YouTube and more

During the Google I/O 2026 event, the company made numerous announcements related to Gemini, Android, Google products and more. In this article, we will give you a brief about all the announcements made.
Google I/O 2026 Announcements
Conversational AI
- Ask YouTube: Makes information much more digestible and easy to navigate. You will see videos that best match your interest, and most importantly, it jumps right to the part of the video most relevant to you. The testing of this feature has started, and it will be rolled out broadly in the US this summer.
- Voice-powered Docs Live: With Docs Live, you can create a doc with Gemini by just verbally dumping what is in your mind and letting Gemini do the rest. In future, you will also be able to create new docs and edit them directly with your voice. The feature will roll out to subscribers this summer.
New Gemini models
- Gemini Omni: A new model that is capable of generating samples in any output modality from an input. The company is starting with video outputs, and over time will enable image and text. The first model in the Omni family- Gemini Omni Flash is available on the Gemini app, Google Flow and on YouTube Shorts. It will also be rolled out to developers and enterprise customers via APIs in the coming weeks.
- Gemini 3.5 Flash: When compared to 3.1 Pro, 3.5 Flash is better across all benchmarks. It delivers frontier performance for agents and coding, excelling at complex long-horizon tasks that deliver real-world utility. The model delivers frontier-level capabilities at less than half the price of comparable frontier models. It is available for everyone across Google’s products and APIs, while the Gemini 3.5 Pro model will be coming next month.
SynthID
Google is now adding Content Credentials verification across products. This will show you if the origin of the content was AI or a camera, and if it’s been edited with generative AI tools. The company is expanding both Content Credentials and SynthID verification to Search and Chrome. OpenAI, Kakao and Eleven Labs are adopting SynthID too.
SynthID verification is expanding to Search and to Chrome over the coming weeks. C2PA Content Credentials is rolling out in the Gemini app, and it will come to Search and Chrome in the coming months.
Antigravity 2.0
Google is bringing Gemini 3.5 Flash to developers in Antigravity. Antigravity 2.0, a new standalone desktop application that acts as a central home for agent interaction, where anyone can orchestrate agents for all sorts of tasks. Google has also developed an even more optimised version of Flash; not just 4x but 12x faster than other frontier models.
Gemini Spark
Gemini Spark, your personal AI agent in the Gemini app that helps you navigate your digital life, taking action on your behalf and under your direction. It runs on dedicated virtual machines on Google Cloud and is available 24/7. It is powered by Gemini 3.5 and the Google Antigravity harness, which allows it to perform long-horizon tasks easily in the background.
Spark will integrate seamlessly with Google tools, and in the coming weeks, with third-party tools through MCP. You can work with Spark in the Gemini app or soon, through email and chat. The company has started rolling out Spark to trusted testers this week, and the Beta is coming to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US next week.
Search in the agentic era
Google has introduced information agents in Search. These are personalised AI agents that you can set up to work in the background, 24/7. Information agents are rolling out this summer, starting with Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
With the power of Gemini 3.5 Flash and Google Antigravity, Search will build custom experiences just for your individual questions, like dynamic layouts and interactive visuals. These generative UI capabilities will be available for everyone in Search this summer, free of charge.
Users will also be able to build custom experiences with Antigravity, right in Search in the coming months, starting first for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US.
Daily Brief
Another out-of-the-box agent is coming to the Gemini app. It gives you a personalised digest and synthesises information from your inbox, calendar and takes to find the most important things to be aware of. Rolling out to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra in the US.
Google Flow
Google Flow is rolling out a new agent to everyone that can plan and reason through complex tasks with your inputs, under your control. It brings expertise and a deep understanding of your project to help with early brainstorming, creating and editing. You can also vibe code any creative tool, right in Flow.
Google Flow includes new features like Gemini Omni, Google Flow Agent and bespoke Tools. While Google Flow Music gets precisely editing song section by section, reimagine full tracks with covers and music videos with Gemini Omni.
Google is launching mobile apps for both Google Flow and Google Flow Music. For those 18+, the Flow app is available on Android in beta (iOS coming soon), and the Flow Music app is available now on iOS (Android coming soon)
Google Pics
Google’s new AI image creation and editing tool, built on the latest Nano Banana model, helps you create just about anything with the creative controls you want. Pics treats every element as an individual object rather than a flat, static image. This allows you to create, swap or perfect specific details so you can bring your exact version to life.
It is available to trusted testers and will roll out later this summer to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in Workspace.
Gemini for science
Gemini for Science bring together several AI tools to help accelerate scientific research. Building on the deep reasoning and research capabilities of Gemini as well as Deep Think and Deep Research, it includes new experiments on Labs as well as Science Skills to connect agentic platforms like Google Antigravity to over 30 major life science databases and tools.
Users can express interest in trying Gemini for Science experiments on Google Labs, and Science Skills is available today on GitHub and directly in Antigravity.
Shopping
Google introduced Universal Cart, an intelligent shopping cart and your new hub for shopping on Google. It works across merchants and across services, so you can add things to your cart while you’re browsing Search, chatting with Gemini, watching YouTube or even reading your Gmail. The moment you add a product to your cart, it gets to work in the background, finding deals and price drops, giving you insights on price history and alerting you when an item is back in stock.
It is rolling out across Search and the Gemini app in the US this summer, with YouTube and Gmail to follow.
Android XR
Google announced that it will introduce two types of intelligent eyewear: audio glasses that offer spoken help in your ear, and display glasses that show you the information you need, right when you need it.
Google has partnered with Samsung and eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to create eyewear you will happily wear all day. The Audio glasses will come with features like: Gemini, easy navigation, manage calls, send texts, missed messages summary, music playback, capture and edit high-quality videos and photos, translate speech and writing, Gemini intelligence and tap into your apps.
Audio glasses are launching first, coming later this fall.
AI Inbox
Now expanding to Google AI Plus and Pro subscribers in the US with new updates to help you better manage and stay on top of your inbox. The updates include personalised draft replies, instant file access and streamlined task management.

Google AI subscriptions
A new $100/month AI Ultra plan with a 5x higher usage limit in Google Antigravity than the Google AI Pro plan. For a limited time, Google is offering new and existing Google AI Ultra subscribers USD $100 in bonus credits for Antigravity that will kick in if you hit your plan’s quota limit. Claim the offer in the Antigravity app; the offer expires on May 25th.
The plan offers Gemini 3.5 Flash Integration, priority access to Google Antigravity, 20 TB of cloud storage, Gemini Spark (US), Project Genie (global), and a YouTube Premium individual plan.

Google is also moving from daily prompt limits to a “compute-used” model. These new compute-based usage limits in the Gemini app factor in the complexity of your prompt, the features you use, and the length of your chat.
Android Halo
Google previewed Android Halo, which gives users at-a-glance visibility into what your agent is working on at any given time. It makes your agent’s status visible by bringing subtle communication at the top of your phone screen as it takes on a task, goes into live mode or sends you a message.
It will be available later this year, and it will work with Gemini Spark and other supported agents. More details will be shared later this year.
Pomelli
The Pomelli Agent helps you build your Business DNA or brand identity.
