Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 (4nm) Chip Officially Announced, With 36% Faster CPU and 59% Faster GPU Performances

The American semi-conductor brand – Qualcomm has now officially announced its Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 mid-range budget chipset. As per what has been revealed, this is the very first chipset model under the 6-series to be built on the 4nm process node.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Chip

The newly-announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip is made using the 4nm process technology, and it is equipped with four performance cores (clocked at up to 2.4GHz) + four efficiency cores (clocked at up to 1.8GHz) combination. These are said to be Kryo CPU cores, and are revealed to offer 36% faster CPU performance. An Adreno GPU with Vulkan 1.1 supporting HDR gaming is also there within the chipset, and it thus offers 59% faster GPU performance. About its storage specs, LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage will be supported.

Speaking more, in terms of its display and gaming aspects, a FHD+ display resolution is supported along with up to 144Hz refresh rate, and additionally the chip will also offer variable rate shading and game quick touch. For the camera specs, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip will support up to 200MP photo capture, 2K HDR video @30fps + 720p slow-mo @240fps, dual 12-bit Spectra ISP, and multi-frame noise reduction.

Snapdragon Sound, Aqstic Audio Codec & Amplifier, GPS, NavlC, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS (L1/L2/L5), Trusted Execution Environment, Type-1 Hypervisor, USB 3.1 type-C port, and Quick Charge 4+ are further notable specs of the latest chip. On the connectivity side, 5G (mmWave + Sub-6GHz) up to 2.9Gbps DL, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, LE Audio, Dual SIM, and DSS support are given.

While Qualcomm nor other smartphone brands haven’t yet announced the details concerning the devices that will be hitting the market with this latest chip, reports claim that we can expect Snapdragon 6s Gen 4-powered smartphones from Xiaomi, OPPO, and Motorola soon.
