Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Launched in India With Meta AI, 12MP Camera, and Hands-Free Music Recognition

Ray-Ban Meta Glasses have officially launched in the Indian market, bringing the smart eyewear collaboration between Meta and EssilorLuxottica to tech enthusiasts across the country.

The smart glasses, featuring a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, open-ear speakers, and a five-microphone system, were unveiled on Monday with pre-orders beginning immediately. General sales will commence on May 19 through Ray-Ban.com and select optical retailers nationwide.

Priced starting at Rs. 29,900 for the Skyler and Wayfarer designs in Shiny Black, the collection also includes premium variants such as the Wayfarer Matte Black (Rs. 32,100) and the Skyler Chalk Grey and Wayfarer Matte Black designs (Rs. 35,700).

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 Platform, the glasses offer 32GB of built-in storage and approximately four hours of battery life, extendable to 36 hours with the included charging case. The wearable comes with an IPX4 rating for water resistance.

The standout feature is integration with Meta AI, activated through voice commands beginning with “Hey Meta.” Users can capture 12MP photos (3,024 x 4,032 pixels), record 1080p videos up to 60 seconds in length, and even livestream their point of view directly to Facebook and Instagram.

Meta has emphasized the AI capabilities of these glasses, including music recognition powered by Shazam (“Hey Meta, what is this song?”), real-time translation between English and Spanish, French, or Italian, and contextual AI assistance that can answer questions about objects and scenes in view.

Additional features include the ability to send and receive direct messages on Instagram, make audio and video calls, and control music playback from services including Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music—all through voice commands.

The glasses interface with smartphones through the Meta View app, allowing users to manage content and share media across platforms beyond Meta’s ecosystem.
