Xiaomi announces its new Longjia (Dragon Armor) battery for EVs in China; Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max and Xiaomi 18 Fold new details teased

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi recently announced that Xiaomi Auto and two leading battery industry partners, Zhongchuang Innovation and Sunwoda Power, are working on the new Longjia (Dragon Armor) battery for EVs.

The company says the battery comes with a lifetime fire-safety guarantee for eligible first owners. If a battery defect causes a fire and the car is completely damaged, Xiaomi will provide a new car with the same specs; also, if an accident damages the battery and causes a fire, Xiaomi will cover the difference between the insurance payout and the car’s actual value.

The battery is designed to handle impacts far beyond China’s national safety requirements. Its high-voltage system can shut down in just milliseconds when a serious problem is detected.

Apart from this, Xiaomi is also launching the Longjia Battery Peace of Mind Guarantee Plan, providing free battery safety protection to the first owners of vehicles equipped with the Longjia Battery.

Xiaomi has announced that the new standards and guarantees will first be implemented with Xiaomi SkyNomad models, which are officially launching on today at 7 PM in China.

The company has also teased some key details of the upcoming Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max and revealed a new special edition variant of the Xiaomi 18 Fold model.

The tablet features a 13.3-inch HD True Color screen that offers a 3:2 aspect ratio (adapted for various PC-level applications), 3.4K screen resolution and 1000 nits peak brightness. It also boasts powerful expansion capabilities, instantly transforming into various displays via a full-featured Type-C direct connection, serving as a secondary monitor for computers, a professional digital display, or a large gaming screen.

It debuts with the new Xiaomi HyperOS 4. Professional browser plugin support for webpage translation and AI Q&A, professional Xiaomi Notes allow for one-click structured organisation for scattered thoughts, while multi-screen mode lets you run six apps on one screen for efficient and quick collaboration.

The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max features a system-level, AI-powered new Inspiration Ball and Office Suite, while third-party PCs can also utilise Xiao AI capabilities for efficient collaboration across the entire ecosystem.

Coming to the Xiaomi 18 Fold, the foldable device has already been revealed to arrive in Black, White and Red colour options. The company has revealed there will also be a Ceramic Special Edition for this device.
