Upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Models to Use LIPO Technology for its Display: Smaller Bezels, Larger Display

Reports are now revealing that the Pro models of Apple’s iPhone 15 series will use a new display technology which will help the brand in reducing the bezels of its display and thereby increase its display size.

Here’s more about it.

Apple to Use LIPO Technology on its iPhone 15 Pro Models

We have by now come across a lot of rumors and updates about the upcoming iPhone 15 series devices and the smartphone world is very anxiously waiting to see the debut of the latest iPhones. All the iPhone 15 series smartphones are going to feature the dynamic island and are expected to have better camera and display specs than before, including a USB type-C charging port. Now a new update reveals that the Pro models of the series, the iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphones will have larger displays thanks to the reduced bezel size.

This update comes from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who has pointed out that the Pro variants are going to use a new display technology called Low-Pressure Injection Molding or simply referred to as LIPO. This technology was first used in Apple’s smartwatch devices, the Apple Watch Series 7, and Gurman suggests that the brand in the future is also planning to bring this technology to its iPad tablet devices as well.

Incorporating the technology, Apple will be able to reduce the bezel size from 2.2mm to 1.5mm in the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models.

“This year, two of the biggest changes to the iPhone 15 lineup will bring Apple closer to the iPhone of dreams. The standard iPhone 15 models will replace the notch with a Dynamic Island, while the Pro and Pro Max displays will be manufactured using a new technology: low-pressure injection molding, or LIPO, as it’s called internally by Apple.

This new process will reduce the bezel around the display to 1.5mm (down from about 2.2mm on current iPhones). LIPO was first used on the Apple Watch Series 7 to make the device’s bezel thinner and make the display larger. I was told that Apple plans to eventually bring this feature to the iPad as well”, said Gurman

Currently, Xiaomi’s 13 series smartphones have the slimmest bezels on a smartphone device, and with the iPhone 15 Pro variants, Apple will be able to beat this record and keep it until the release of the next Xiaomi 14.
