Nothing Phone (2) to come with plastic-free packaging officially confirmed

We recently covered the confirmation from the brand when they revealed the design and model number. Back then, the brand announced that the phone would be launched in the summer of 2023 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. The phone was also listed on Flipkart, which confirmed its Indian launch. The phone was also spotted on BIS India certification and Geekbench.

In a recent Twitter update by Nothing, the company revealed some of the appreciative features of their upcoming ‘Nothing 2’ phone. Along with fans of ‘Nothing’ being excited about the upcoming phone, what’s more, appreciative is their effort to create an environment-friendly product.

The phone would be powered by a battery of 4700 mAh that has 200mAh more power than the ‘Nothing 1’. Along with that, the phone would receive a display size increase of 0.15” compared to the Phone (1) which is 6.55″.

Firstly, the manufacturers have used three times more recyclable and bio-based products than their previous phone ‘Nothing (1)’. They have used recycled tin, recycled copper foil, and recycled steel on many of their circuit boards. To top it all, they have also used up to 80 % of sustainably sourced plastic.

With the use of recycled fibre, ‘Nothing’ has made an effort to create plastic-free packaging. Their packaging has also been certified by FSC_IC.

The phone’s assembly parts are powered by 100 % renewable energy. The phone is housed in an aluminum frame, which is also made using 100 % renewable energy.

‘Nothing’ is planning to provide 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security updates.

What’s most markable about the upcoming ‘Nothing 2’ phone is that they have achieved a lower carbon footprint on a second-generation product. The phone has achieved a significant carbon footprint of 53.45kg, which is 5kg less than the Phone (1). It has been certified by SGS_SA.

However, the company hasn’t announced anything about the phone’s launch date or price. But as per Carl Pei we will see this beauty in the month of July.
