Motorola’s Moto G87 officially announced with MediaTek Dimensity 6400, 5200mAh battery, and 4 years of security updates in the UK and select EU markets

The next G series smartphone – the Moto G87 has now been announced in the UK market, along with a few other select EU markets. With this launch, Motorola also claims it to be the best camera-centric G series device yet to arrive.

Moto G87 – Specs and Features

The latest Moto G87 smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, and it runs on the Android 16 operating system. Storage options are available for the device, and customers will be able to get it in up to 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Additionally, RAM expansion support is also there, and the RAM can be further increased up to 24GB via RAM Boost. Speaking more, as per the Motorola UK website, only a single 8GB/256GB variant has been listed for the device, with RAM expansion support. Google features such as Chat with Gemini and Circle to Search are also part of the device.

For its display, an Extreme AMOLED panel is featured, and it has a screen size of 6.78″, resolution of 1272 x 2772 pixels, and refresh rate of 120Hz. The display is also capable of reaching up to 5000 nits peak brightness in High Brightness Mode. Additionally, Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection has also been given on the device. IP66/IP68/IP69-rated protection, MIL-STD-810H military-grade durability, SGS Low Blue Light certification, and SGS Low Motion Blur support are also its display-related features.

On the camera side, a 200MP (main, OIS) primary camera is featured on the device, and it is paired with an 8MP (ultra-wide) camera. Also, a 32MP front-facing camera is there on the device as well. Speaking more, with Google Photos, users will also be able to access AI-based editing tools such as Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Reimagine, and Auto Frame.

In terms of its battery aspects, a 5200mAh battery is packed within it, and the device is claimed to offer up to 35 hours of usage. The device also supports 30W TurboPower wired charging.

Other key specs of the device include the dual stereo speakers powered by Dolby Atmos with Hi-Res Audio certification, fingerprint scanner, face unlock support, ThinkShield security, dual-band WiFi support, Bluetooth 5.4, and USB Type-C 2.0.

Pricing and Availability

Regarding the price point, while up to 12GB RAM variants have been mentioned, in the UK and select EU markets, only the 8GB/256GB variant has been announced. It carries a price tag of £349.99 / €399.99. While in some EU markets it is available for purchase, in the UK, it is currently listed with a “Notify Me” tag.
