Nothing Ear (3a) Launches Globally With 12mm Driver, Hi-Res Audio, ANC, Up to 42 Hours of Playback, and More; India Launch Still Unconfirmed

Nothing, the UK-based consumer electronics brand, has now officially launched two of its new products – the Phone (4b) in India as well as in the global markets, and the Ear (3a) earbuds in the global market. However, the India launch details of the newly-launched Ear (3a) earbuds are still not confirmed yet.

Nothing Ear (3a) – Launched Globally With LDAC, Adaptive ANC, and Up to 42 Hours Battery Life

Speaking about the design, each earbud measures 31.2 mm in height, 21.7 mm in width, and 24 mm in depth, while weighing 4.53 grams. The charging case measures 64.8 mm in height, 48.95 mm in width, and 22.8 mm in depth, and it carries a weight of 40.92 grams.

Coming to the audio side, the Nothing Ear (3a) earbuds feature a 12 mm dynamic driver with 32Ω impedance, and offer a frequency response range of 20Hz to 40,000Hz. The earbuds also use a PMI + TPU diaphragm, and the tuning has been done by Nothing. Moreover, the device supports LDAC, Hi-Res Wireless certification, Custom EQ, Advanced EQ, and Static Spatial Audio as well.

Each earbud is equipped with a 55 mAh battery, while the charging case packs a 500 mAh battery, and the company claims that it takes around 70 minutes to fully charge and comes with Type-C wired charging support. Additionally, Nothing claims that it can give 1 hour of playback with ANC off via just 5 minutes of earbud charging, while a 10-minute charge of the earbuds and charging case together is claimed to offer up to 10 hours of playback.

In terms of battery life, with AAC codec and ANC turned off, the earbuds can deliver up to 10 hours of playback, while with ANC turned on, it can offer up to 6 hours of playback. Along with the charging case, the total playback time goes up to 42 hours with ANC off and up to 25 hours with ANC on. With LDAC, the earbuds can offer up to 6 hours of playback with ANC off and up to 4.5 hours of playback with ANC on.

For calls, the Nothing Ear (3a) supports up to 6 hours of talk time with ANC off and up to 4.5 hours with ANC on. Along with the charging case, the total talk time is rated at up to 25 hours with ANC off and up to 18 hours with ANC on.

As mentioned above, the earbuds also come with Adaptive ANC support, and it offers a noise cancellation depth of up to 45dB. The supported ANC frequency range is 40Hz to 5000Hz. It also features a total of six microphones, with three microphones on each side, and supports Transparency Mode along with ENC algorithm for better call quality.

Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, which offers a connection range of up to 15 meters, is featured. It is compatible with Android devices running Android 8.0 and above, as well as iPhones running iOS 13 and above. The earbuds also support SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs, along with dual connection capability.

Other notable key specs of the device include Google Fast Pair, Microsoft Swift Pair, low-latency mode, LED charging status indicator, and IP54-rated water resistance for both the earbuds and the charging case. Through the Nothing X app, users will also be able to access Custom EQ with profile sharing, customizable controls, Find My Earbuds, dual connection, firmware updates, and gesture controls.

The Nothing Ear (3a) TWS earbuds have been made available in the UK market in four color choices – White, Black, Yellow, and Pink, with a price tag of GBP 99.
