Beto O’Rourke approaches Texas Governor Greg Abbott, gets support on social media

During an update on the Uvalde elementary school tragedy, Beto O’Rourke approaches Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

On Wednesday, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke interrupted Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott and other officials as they attempted to offer updates on Tuesday’s tragic shooting at a Texas elementary school.

“This is entirely anticipated,” O’Rourke, a former congressman who represented El Paso, Texas, and is a former Senate and presidential candidate, said to people onstage as he interrupted officials.
Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who O’Rourke ran against in his losing 2018 Senate bid, was among those onstage with Abbott.
“You’re out of line and an embarrassment,” Texas Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is heard scolding O’Rourke in the footage.

Cruz shook his head and added, “Sit down and don’t play this nonsense.”
Officers led O’Rourke away after that.
