Todd Boehly has been confirmed as the new owner of Chelsea after he was given a green signal to buy the club from Roman Abramovich. After a 12 week period and just before the license expiration of the government, the club will be officially owned by Todd Boehly.
The Premier League and government gave the go ahead for the Boehly group, now it will be financed by the Clearlake Capital investment firm in replacement to Russian sanctioned company of Roman Abramovich.
“Chelsea Football Club can confirm that a final and definitive agreement was entered into last night to sell the Club to the Todd Boehly/Clearlake Capital Consortium. It is expected that the transaction will be completed on Monday. The Club will update further at that time.” a statement by the club’s official club.
The new owners are expected to provide head coach Thomas Tuchel with up to 200 m pounds to spend this summer’s transfer window as they aim to make up ground on Liverpool and Manchester City.
