It’s been quite a season for Karim Benzema as he has carried Real Madrid on his shoulders throughout the season. Benzema has admitted he had done all he could with Real Madrid this season to make himself favourites for the Ballon d’Or after helping the La Liga team beat Liverpool 1 – 0 in the UCL final.
Although, Benzema did not score in the final at the Stade de France, but the Frenchman finished as the Champions League’s top scorer with 15 goals to his name.
“Now I will join up with the national team but I don’t think I can do much more with my club. We will see what happens, but in any case I am proud of what I have done.”
Benzema will join up with France for the UEFA Nations League games in June. Benzema has now won five Champions League titles with the Real Madrid.
The winner of the Ballon d’Or will be announced in a ceremony in Paris in October, just before the start of the World Cup.
