IND vs SA : Now former cricketer Saba Karim is also surprised at Bumrah becoming the vice-captain

The Indian team is currently on the South African tour and has made a great start with a win in the Centurion Test. After the Test matches, India also has to play a three-match ODI series, for which the team was announced on Friday.

In the absence of injured Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul was made the captain of the team, while Jasprit Bumrah has been given the responsibility of vice-captaincy.

However, many expected one of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer to play the role of vice-captain. But the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee surprised with its decision. Pant and Iyer have had a good experience of captaincy in the IPL. Well, fast bowler Bumrah’s performance in all the three formats has been phenomenal over the years and he was rewarded for the same.

Now former cricketer Saba Karim is also surprised at Bumrah becoming the vice-captain. Saba Karim being a former national selector knows the importance of vice-captaincy. Saba Karim did not expect Jasprit Bumrah to be appointed ahead of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer. He is quite impressed with Rishabh Pant’s progress behind the wicket in terms of field placement and captaincy strategy. In such a situation, Saba Karim hopes that Rishabh Pant will definitely get this responsibility in future.

Saba Karim told that he was very surprised, he was not expecting Jasprit Bumrah to become the vice-captain. He thought Rishabh Pant would have more chances to become the vice-captain as he is also a player of all three formats. Pant’s performance as the captain of Delhi Capitals has been very good. We are seeing how he reads the match, he has a lot of awareness about the game.

However, the former selector believes that Bumrah is a talented player. Saba said, ‘Jasprit Bumrah has talent. His role is very important for the Indian team but he has not captained anywhere so far, so it is a little surprising. I had a feeling that Rishabh Pant was the first candidate as the vice-captain.
