On Sunday morning, in the northern state of Uttarakhand, a portion of the Nanda Devi glacier broke off in the Tapovan causing floods and sending floodwaters crashing through the Dhauliganga river valley, destroying the Rishiganga hydropower plant, and damaging the Dhauliganga hydropower as well as villages and homes in the area.
Trivendra Singh Rawat, the CM of Uttarakhand updated that, Seven bodies have been recovered from the site and rescue operations are going on. Around 125 people are missing and that number is likely to rise more.
