The Mandalorian Season 3 will be premiered tomorrow that is on March 1 , while the trailer of this season looks more exciting and promising , there’s a sad news that the fans won’t be witnessing Gina Carano’s character Cara Dune in this season . Rick Famuyiwa says they discussed addressing Cara Dune’s departure in the writers room for ‘THE MANDALORIAN’ Season 3.
“Season 3 is mainly dealing with Mandalorians and the Mandalorian saga, the Mandalorian tale,” adds Dave Filoni.

Who was Cara Dune ?
The fans really loved the bounty hunter character Cara Dune in the last season . Cara Dune’s character grabbed a lot of praises for her toughness and fighting skills as well as for her compassionate nature . In ‘The Mandalorian’ she was shown as a skill fighter and a close ally of the show’s titular character , Din Djarin . Throughout the series , Cara helped Din in several missions and helps him protect Baby Yoda .
The reason for Gina Carano’s departure from the show was that back in February 2021 she made controversial statements about Jews , Nazi Germany and the nation’s divided political climate , later she was essentially dismissed from The Mandalorian and officially fired from Lucasfilm .
In a conversation with Deadline , Rick Famuyiwa (EP) that they have discussed Cara Dune’s departure in the writers room for season 3 . She said ,” It was discussed as we knew it was going to have a impact on the show but at the same time , what has been at the heart of the show are the two characters – Din Djarin and Grogu , so ultimately it felt like a servicing of that , and around the Mandalorian .”
EP Dave Filoni mentioned that The Mandalorian will keep it’s focus on Din Djarin and Grogu moving forward particularly as Season 3 bring the characters back to Mandalore . He further added that ,” Now Season 3 is mainly dealing with Mandalorians and the Mandalorian Saga , The Mandalorian tale .”
This means that fans will not see Cara Dune’s character but other popular characters played by Pedro Pascal , Giancarlo Esposito , Carl Weathers and Katee Sackhoff will return in the new season .
Seems like Gina Carano’s controversial comments led to her firing from the show and her character’s uncertain future . Though some fans still wish for Carano’s comeback , other’s have criticized her behavior and called for the character to be retired .
