Elon Musk recently tweeted to praise Sanjay Bhargava, director of Starlink India for his initiative to provide high- speed internet in rural areas. He stated that he has “much respect” for Sanjay Bhargava.
The broadband operations of SpaceX by Elon Musk will be handled by Bhargava in India. He will also help to serve facilities in rural areas and work on its own goodwill. He has also worked with Musk on an electronic payment method before. Talking about Starlink, SpaceX’s Starlink works on operating a constellation of low-earth orbit satellites that would feature the lead the internet to the ground.
The tweet by Elon Musk stated, “Sanjay deserves a lot of credit for making X/PayPal succeed. Now helping SpaceX serve rural communities in India. Much respect”.
Bhargava and his wife Anita Kapoor posted a video to share about the SpaceX’s plan to lead Starlink services to rural areas in 2022. It is still in process of getting various approvals. Musk tweeted in response to their video.
SpaceX is planning to serve100 Starlink hardware kits — 20 for Delhi schools and 80 in a rural district close to Delhi — for free. Then, its representatives will work in collaboration with the NITI Aayog to identify 12 rural districts and start their project there. By the end of 2022, the company plans to operate at least 200,000 Starlink devices, 160,000 (80 percent) of those in rural areas.
Reports state that India could become a vast market for SpaceX as India is a developing countries with a large number of rural areas which do not have much internet facilities.
