Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, has officially announced Xiaomi Auto’s second product series: Sky Nomad. This new brand will go by Xiaomi Pengcheng in China.
According to the CEO, Xiaomi’s SU7/YU7 series is a ‘driver’s car’, and the Xiaomi Pengcheng series is a ‘smart, variable-space SUV.’ Reportedly, with Sky Nomad, Xiaomi will enter the extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) market.
It is expected that the first model launching under this series will be the Sky Nomad N90, a full-size SUV. However, there is no confirmation regarding the name, and it is advisable to wait for the official announcement.
The company has also started sharing teasers of the upcoming SUV.
Xiaomi Sky Nomad: Exterior & Interior design teased
On the exterior side, the vehicle has a rugged, boxy shape with an all-new front-end design. If we talk about the interior space, it is not fixed. As per Lei Jun, when parked, the vehicle can be transformed into a one-person studio, a two-person café, a three-person living room, or a playground for the whole family.
It is based on the Xiaomi Kunlun Architecture. In SUV form, the flat floor and long sliding rails give the Sky Nomad the ability to intelligently switch between different spaces.
This all-new series is said to launch soon, but there is no specific launch date announced as of yet. Stay tuned for more updates.
