Volkswagen Brings Paid Subscription to its ID.3 Hatchback to Unlock Full Horsepower: Monthly, Yearly, and Lifetime Subscriptions Available

The German automobile manufacturer – Volkswagen has brought out a paid subscription for its ID.3 hatchback users and just like taking a Netflix or Amazon Prime subscription, users will have to pay a fee to unlock the vehicle’s full horsepower.
Here’s more about it.
Subscription Fees to Unlock Full Horsepower of Volkswagen’s ID.3 Hatchback?
While Volkswagen sells its ID.3 Pro and ID.3 Pro S models as vehicles producing 201 bhp, both of these are capable of attaining a potential of 228 bhp. However, for the extra 27 bhp boost along with the 310 Nm maximum torque from 265 Nm, users are now asked to pay a subscription fee to the brand. Monthly, yearly, and lifetime subscription plans are made available to users, with price tags of USD 20/GBP 16.50, USD 200/GBP 165, and USD 760/GBP 649 respectively. To note, while the former two are attached to the individual or user of the vehicle, the latter is attached with the vehicle – meaning the second hand buyer of the vehicle won’t have to pay for the subscription again.
Speaking more, the brand assures that the boosted full horsepower won’t be affecting the range in any ways and as the mentioned ID.3 hatchbacks are already registered at 228 bhp, users won’t have to be worried about anything with the insurance company as well. However, there are still questions standing regarding the possibility of jailbreaking into the system by users to access the full potential without paying for the subscription. Likely in such cases, the warranty of the vehicle may probably be terminated, and the brand could also move ahead with legal actions against the users.
