Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra – Snapdragon Variant to Hit All Markets?
Looking into earlier updates, while Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series was said to arrive with the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra models, new reports had revealed the brand’s plan to not release the Galaxy S26 Pro and the Galaxy S26 Edge models, and re-include the Galaxy S26 Plus back to the series. All these suggested that the next Galaxy S26 series flagships will have a delayed launch date, however it is now reported that from March 2026, the brand believes it will be able to conduct its Galaxy Unpacked event in late January 2026 (at the earliest) and then release its flagship smartphones in the month of February 2026. The removal of the ‘Edge’ model and the addition of the ‘Plus’ model caused the hardware verification process to lengthen, making the launch almost delayed, however the issue is said to have been resolved.
Speaking more, the full adoption of the Exynos 2600 chip on all the Galaxy S26 series models, which had caused the delay, are now pointed out as false claims. As per an industry official, Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chip is revealed to be used only in the standard Galaxy S26 and the Galaxy S26 Plus models, whereas the Galaxy S26 Ultra model will be coming equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. To note, the increased component costs and tariff charges are both already reported to be factors that will bring an increase in the price of not just the ultra model, but also for the standard and the plus models as well.

In related news, Kim Yong-seok (Professor at the College of Semiconductors, Gachon University) also added that possibly Samsung will adopt its Exynos chip on to the Galaxy S27 Ultra model (of 2027) and the use of its own AP can help the brand to bring a better price tag on it.
